Charleroi Airport (‘Brussels South Charleroi Airport’) is the second most important passenger airport of the country as far as the number of passengers and movements are concerned. Mainly due to the growing activities of Ryanair, the number of passengers has nearly reached 2.500.000 in 2007. Belgocontrol is responsible for the air traffic control, the meteorological and aeronautical information to pilots and airline companies. The maintenance of the equipment (Communication, Navigation and Surveillance) in Charleroi is also done by Belgocontrol.
