Main Operating Office - Brussels Airport

The main Belgocontrol site was put into service in April 2005. It centralises all services of Belgocontrol and consists of the following buildings:

  • The Administrative Centre houses the Management, the three Directorates General (Administration and Finance, Operations and Equipment) and the administrative services, as well as a part of the technical services.
  • The Control Tower for Brussels Airport accommodates on the one hand the support and development services of the tower air traffic control (AMS) and on the other hand all the operational services (Air Traffic Services (ATS), Air Traffic Control (ATC), Air Traffic Management (ATM) and Meteo) with the exception of the en-route (ACC) and the approach (APP) air traffic controllers.
  • The National Air Traffic Control Centre (CANAC 2): this is where the ‘en route’ (ACC) and ‘approach’ (APP) air traffic controllers guide the traffic in the Belgian and Luxembourg airspace. The main part of the technical services (Communication, Navigation, Surveillance) are also situated in the CANAC building.
  • The Training Centre: where the permanent training of the whole Belgocontrol staff is organised (air traffic controllers, meteorologists, technical staff,…) as well as the training services to external professionals.
  • The Restaurant and Accommodation Centre
Brussels Airport is the most important airport in Belgium in terms of movements (225,682 in 2010) and passengers (17,180,606 in 2010).
