Performance-oriented air traffic control
Put into service in November 2009, CANAC 2 is not only the new air traffic control centre (ACC – Area Control Centre) of Belgocontrol, but also the air traffic control management system which powers this new centre and the air traffic control towers of Belgium's five public airports: Brussels Airport, Antwerp, Charleroi, Liège and Ostend.
CANAC 2 implements an innovative operational concept designed by Belgocontrol experts, which encompasses the air traffic control centre and the control towers in a dynamic system based on tactical air traffic flows management. Based on the latest technological innovations, this system offers optimal efficiency and service quality at a lower cost.
Definitely turned to the future, CANAC 2 has facilities for training air traffic controllers and for military air traffic control.
Scalable, perfectly interoperable and in line with the latest developments of the SESAR programme (Single European Sky ATM Research), CANAC 2 is a major asset for Belgocontrol in the construction of the Single European Sky through its participation in FABEC (Functional Airspace Block Europe Central).
