PIB (Preflight Information Bulletin)

PIBs are available on AIM-Meteo Briefing and can be requested in the following ways.

Map selection

Every spot on the map of the Brussels FIR graphically represents a Belgian or a foreign airport near the Belgian border.

Clicking on such an airport spot provides an up-to-date bulletin, containing NOTAM and OPMET messages. In winter also SNOWTAM (for main airports only) are included in the report.

Aerodrome and FIR

An ‘Aerodrome and FIR Bulletin' provides NOTAM, SNOWTAM and OPMET information for all the FIRs and airports entered in the request.

It is possible to directly consult METEO charts (significant weather chart and upper wind and temperature chart).

Requesting this type of bulletin in the initial flight preparation phase is recommended, in order to obtain advance information about the airport status and the availability of airspace and/or routes.

Narrow Route

A ‘Narrow Route Bulletin' comprises NOTAM, SNOWTAM and OPMET information strictly tailored to the needs of the pilot. This bulletin only contains NOTAM that relate to the intended flight route.

Entering the ‘callsign' and the aerodrome of departure and destination of a valid flight plan will automatically produce a Narrow Route Bulletin for this flight.

If no flight plan has been filed, it is possible to obtain the same type of bulletin by entering the complete flight route details, together with the aerodrome of departure, arrival and the alternate aerodromes.

It is possible to directly consult METEO charts (significant weather chart and upper wind and temperature chart).
